WW II Photo Series
This Series was a project for school for Photo Manipulation. I was asked to combine multiple photos together and create one cohesive photo. I needed to do 5 photos total to create a series. I decided to focus on the 1940’s WWII look. I went to an airplane museum and went around my town to older buildings to take photos for the background. I then borrowed theater outfits and did a photo session with my nieces and nephews. When editing I wanted the look to be as if the photo was originally taken in Black and White but later was colorized. My artist statement is below. They are called the greatest generation, the brave men and women who lived during the difficult times of World War II. My grandparents lived during these times, both my grandfathers fought in World War II along with their brothers. I grew up listening to my grandfathers' stories of what it was like during that time. Now, both of my grandfathers have passed away, and I have come to realize that the people who lived and fought during World War II are dying. We are just one generation away from their experiences becoming stories in history books. My nieces and nephews don’t have the opportunity to talk to those who lived in these difficult times. In this art series, I wanted to place my nieces and nephews in that time period. I wanted to spark the curiosity to discover what it was like during this time. (2017)
